Here is a drawing I have been working on this summer. Not quite finished but I hope to hire Anna back to finish up. Pencil on toned paper with white chalk.
I used shellac, denatured alcohol, and graphite powder and just brushed it on. I can't seem to remember the ratio for the shellac and alcohol, I'll look it up and get back.
hi .I am fan of the way you draw figures and portraits.can you do me a favor and look at some of my drawings and tell me how are they and what should i do to make them better!? if you do this you do a great favor to me.here is the address( http://joconde16.blogspot.com/ ). the blog is in farsi, cause im iranian ;).you can e-mail me your opinion(imoneye@yahoo.com) or comment on blog. wish u luck
I have been experimenting with the shellac mix. The brush used and the amount of Graphite, makes quite a difference to the final outcome. I can see why you suggest testing. I am going to try adding a light "color" to the mix too. Thanks for your input.
How did you Tone the Paper for this Drawing? Great drawing.

ReplyDeleteWith that shellac-"Tone Mix" does it matter what paper you use?

ReplyDeleteIve only tried a few papers and it seemed to work fine on either. I used artistico fabriano and strathmore. Give it a try and experiment.
